In Cook, MN the annual Member Show (October 6 thru the 28th, 2022) is named in memory of an innovative artist, business woman and a founder of Northwoods Friends of the Arts. From her obituary these words were written:
Susan “Sue” L. Martin passed away in 2015 at the age of 58. In 1995 Sue and her husband, Ron, started their new adventure when they purchased Moosebirds General Store on Lake Vermilion, Cook, MN. She had retail store experience in her parent’s business in Illinois and looked forward to growing her own business and they were successful!. Sue also nurtured the entrepreneurial spirit in others by working with the Minnesota Entrepreneurial Fund for several years. Through this work Sue helped people realize their dreams of starting their own businesses with her support and expertise so they could become independent. Sue truly lived life to the fullest through passion for painting, her positive outlook on life and love for her family and friends. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was a force in the development and success of Northwoods Friends of Arts in Cook, MN.
It’s a celebration in the spirit of Sue Martin. During October each year NWFA members are the stars of the show! There is no fee for member participants to exhibit crafts and art.
This year, 2022, the exhibit begins October 6 thru the 28th. The gallery is open Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 210 S. River Street in the Dream Weaver Day Spa and Salon complex.
