NWFA NEW ARTIST/MEMBER
Welcome, and thank you for your interest in becoming a Northwoods Friends of the Arts (NWFA) member as an exhibiting artist. Enclosed is our brochure describing this nonprofit, as well as a membership form to be completed.
HOW TO EXHIBIT
Visit the gallery in person and discuss your art with gallery staff. They will put you in contact with gallery management to discuss exhibiting possibilities or you can contact us at nwfamn.org@gmail.com to set up an appointment.
SPACE AND FEES (see Benefits and Opportunities for volunteering in lieu of payment).
Each artist is charged a monthly fee of $30 for approximately 5x8 feet of wall space; $15 for 3x4 feet. Space for free standing art or items requiring shelving is negotiated with the gallery manager.
If space is available, artists may display 2 paintings (no larger than 16”x20” or up to six smaller items, such as books or jewelry with no fee. The same guidelines apply to students (18 or younger) and students receive free membership.
SALES AND COMMISSIONS
NWFA collects a 15% commission on items sold and collects and submits Minnesota Sales Tax. Artist checks are mailed to the artist by the 15th day of the following month.
ARTIST AGREEMENT AND CONSIGNMENT FORM
Each artist must complete an artist agreement and consignment record. This serves as the artist’s contract with NWFA and documents categories of art on display. Each item needs to be labeled with artist initials/name, price and identification, i.e. title, object or ID number. See sample on inventory sheet. Labels are provided by the gallery for this purpose.
Any new type of art needs to be entered into the POS computer by sending an email to nwfamn.org@gmail.com with a subject line note UPDATE INVENTORY.
It is the responsibility of the artist to maintain fresh and updated inventory. You will receive a list of products sold with your monthly check and all tags will be kept in an envelope at the front desk for three months, if you need additional information.
