Celebrate Local Art at NWFA’s 15th Annual Spring Art Expo!

COOK, MN — Northwoods Friends of the Arts (NWFA) is inviting the community to come together this June for their 15th Annual Spring Art Expo, running from June 5 to 28. The event offers a great chance to enjoy local art, live music, kids' activities, and more throughout the month.

The celebration kicks off with an opening reception on Friday, June 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the NWFA Gallery, 210 S River Street. Over 40 local artists will showcase their work, offering a chance to explore a diverse range of talent while enjoying light refreshments. The Gallery will also offer extended Saturday hours until 4 p.m. on May 24 (Spring into Summer Shop Hop) and June 14 (Timber Days). Artists still have time to participate in Spring Art Expo, with registration open until May 22.

During Cook's Timber Days, the Expo brings fun for families and for kids. The NWFA art table on Friday and Saturday will be buzzing with creativity.   On  Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  have fun with Make-It-and-Take-It art projects for kids.

The NWFA Annual Meeting takes place on June 17, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Gallery. Attendees are invited to share a potluck dinner, followed by a special guest speaker from 6 to 7 p.m.

Throughout the month, NWFA is also running a 50/50 raffle with tickets priced at just $5. The top winner will take home their choice of a cash prize of 50 % of the ticket sales, or a stunning acrylic print by local artist Carol Bowman, titled "A Blaze of Glory” valued at $285. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Gallery or from any NWFA board member, and the lucky winners will be announced during the Annual Fundraising Concert on June 28. NWFA is soliciting donations of raffle baskets or gift certificates from individuals or businesses for this fundraiser. The opportunity to bid will be available at the Gallery throughout the month of June. The grand finale of the Expo is the Annual Fundraising Concert on June 28, held at the Cook Community Center, 510 Gopher Drive. The night begins with a pre-concert by Eric Pederson, delivering a mix of classic country and rock favorites. Then, Monroe Crossing takes the stage with their signature bluegrass harmonies. Concert tickets are $25, which includes drinks and dessert, with additional food options available from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Food Tent.
